Petz,

I think this would be a classy response to an unclassy act and it would be viewed favorably by the street.

Good one. If Intel's plan to announce shipping of Coppermine Samples to OEMs is true, it's like giving golden opportunity to AMD to embarrass Intel in many ways. Now, what would happen on Monday to INTC, if Intel doesn't go through this reported announcement?

Petz,

<hows this for an AMD Press Release:

AMD does not announce when new microprocessor speed grades begin sampling to our OEM customers because this might reduce demand for their current products. AMD announces new products when they are available for sale in production quantities at a specified price. Our OEM customers are currently evaluating samples of Athlon processors at several speed grades above the released 750 MHz Athlon.>

I am watching as everyone else on how Jerry is going to respond to Intel's move. I think we have seen one tactic from the EE Times article. What else?

It would be interesting if we get to see some PR today on this issue: I think the odds are 1:1 that something will be done (my take on Jerry's personality)
