Agnico-Eagle receives added hedging credit line
Toronto--Dec 16--Canada's Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd said on Thursday it has
closed its US $100 million, 8-year financing with a syndicate of banks. It is
intended to finance capital costs related to the LaRonde mine expansion and for
general corporate purposes. The banks have also provided up to US $75 million of
credit lines for metal price, interest rate and foreign exchange hedging. (Story

Russian gold output expected to rise to 120-125 tonnes this year
Moscow--Dec 16--Russia is expected to produce 120-125 tonnes of gold this
year, up from 115.2 tonnes in 1998, Chairman of the Russian Union of Gold
Prospectors Viktor Tarakanovsky said Thursday. He said primary gold output would
rise to about 112 tonnes from 105.2 tonnes in
1998, while gold production as byproduct would rise to about 12 tonnes from 10

Canada October gold total output +0.50% from Sept; -5.43% from yr ago
Toronto--Dec 16--Canada's total gold production fell 5.43% in October from
the same month in 1998 to 13.431 million ounces, Natural Resources Canada said
Thursday. For the Jan-Oct period, total gold production was down 2.99% to
133.728 million ounces. However, primary silver production was up 12.91% from
September with October production at 94,745 kilograms. (Story .2176)
