Sen. Frist Issues Bullish Forecast for e-Commerce
According to U.S. Senator Bill Frist (R-TN), electronic commerce has already "fundamentally changed the paradigm for how businesses operate, how business-consumer relationships are cultivated, and how we ourselves purchase goods." But that's just for openers.

Frist, who chairs the Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space, says he is convinced that Internet business will have an even bigger impact on the U.S. economy over the next few years. In launching a new series of Senate hearings into the growth of e-commerce, Frist predicted that the number of customers purchasing goods and services over the Internet will explode from 31 million last year to more than 183 million in 2003. At the same time, he estimated that within four years the total e-commerce market will top $1 trillion annually, and that this year alone the demand for electronic commerce application software will grow 280% to $1.7 billion.

Cheers to all,
