Bob, I think that is exactly what happened. A buyer wanted more shares but knew in order to get them he was going to drive the price up another couple of points. Thus he takes some shares and dumps them on the market. The existing bids get taken out and the resulting selling panic enables the buyer to repurchase his sold shares and add to his holdings all at prices below what he would have paid by going to the market directly in the first place.
