Razor's Runts OK, boys and grrls. <g> Year end is approaching, and we're about to ring in a new millennium. Time for me to put my money where my snout is! ;-) Here are my favorite picks for the next two quarters. They're a bunch of mangy, little mutts, most of which I've remained prudently skeptical about -- and even shorted against -- for quite some time. To call these mutts "puppies" would be charitable, but a little too euphemistic for such an "august forum" (thank you, Sarge <g>), so let's just call them "Razor's Runts" for short... Razor's Runts - 12/17/99 Closing Price (in ascending order of price): 1. Harken Energy (HEC) - $0.75 2. Miller Exploration (MEXP) - $1.06 3. Canadian 88 Energy (EEE) - $1.19 4. Hurricane Hydrocarbons (HHLFQ) - $2.00 5. Range Resources (RRC) - $2.81 6. McDermott Industries (MDR) - $7.44 Despite my initial skepticism, I've eventually grown to view each of the above as high risk, yet extremely undervalued, long shots in their respective industries, especially in the current commodity price environment. Due to the admittedly sickly nature of these runts, I will not be at all surprised to see one or more of them go "teats up" in the next twelve months. Nevertheless, I'm sincerely hoping for a couple of multi-bagger, "golden hooks" to more than compensate for the inevitable influence of Dr. Darwin's natural selection process. Given my age (just 35... still a piglet!) and personal risk tolerance (ummm... can you say, "High!" <vbg>), I am very comfortable with such high-risk picks, so much so that I hold each of the above in my IRA account. But don't try this at home, kids. <g> It could prove extremely detrimental to your financial well-being. Just because these runts fit my investment style, doesn't mean they'll fit yours. Please do your own due diligence. Having said all that, I humbly request that the skeptics amongst you please bookmark this post for future reference. Should these lowly runts only sink deeper into the mud from whence they came, kindly throw this ill-fated prediction back in my face upon future anniversary dates (e.g., 3/31/00, 6/30/00). <vbg> TIA.
