Peter,
I added up all of the earnings for all NASDAQ companies that I have data for. So if a company is losing money, then that amount will decrease the total earnings for the NASDAQ. The money making companies of the NASDAQ make a combined $90.6 billion, but the money losing companies of the NASDAQ lose about $77 billion. So the total earnings of the NASDAQ are around $14 billion. Any suggestions on a better method to use?

Craig
