O.T. Fujitsu To Mass-Produce Fast-Cycle Memories Friday, December 17, 1999 TOKYO (Nikkei)--Fujitsu Ltd. (6702) plans to start mass-producing proprietary fast-cycle random-access memories (FCRAMs) early next year, company sources said Friday. FCRAMs can store and retrieve data two to three times faster than conventional DRAMs (dynamic random-access memories) used in personal computers. Fujitsu plans to sell FCRAMs to makers of video game machines and digital home electronics products that handle three-dimensional images. The company plans to withdraw from commodity-grade DRAM production next spring. Instead Fujitsu intends to develop FCRAMs into a major income earner at its memory division. Sales are targeted at about 50 billion yen in fiscal 2001. Though Fujitsu's FCRAM is based on a DRAM, the basic circuit design has been completely revised, enabling high-speed data processing and halving electricity consumption. The chip will sharply improve the performance of personal digital assistants, printers and digital televisions, the company claims. Fujitsu will make FCRAMs at its Oregon plant. It will also consign production to Taiwanese firms. The company aims at monthly output of one million units by the end of 2000, planning to gradually increase production. That's what makes it so FUN! Maybe a straddle ought to be in order. Rmbs doesn't usually "sit", it moves, but you never can really tell when [that's why the Feb90Calls pique my interest], or which direction. LOL Guess we will have to wallow around in our uncertain boats.

my turnips are telling me that it is more likely the direction will be up hi zeev, i do not have a turnip garden and i am not the trader you are. nevertheless, i do agree with you for two reasons. i believe the first rmbs systems are shipping right now. if that is not sufficient for the moment,... the shorts will certainly want to book their profits shortly after the first of the year, ahead of micron production announcements and sony PII commencing shipping. unclewest
