Oh to be a fly on Intel's wall listening to their panicky response to this latest barb from AMD!

Intel management must be starting to realize that any counter moves in response to the "spry Athy" are beginning to resemble nothing more than a "tilting at windmills".

AMD plans to release an 800-MHz part next quarter and expects to crack the 1-GHz barrier in mid-2000.

Since Intel has been behaving so poorly lately, I will put my money on Intel that they will announce 1 Ghz before AMD. I am not saying Intel will ship any then. It is just bragging rights.
