Chuck,

got a PM the other day on this - Dan Scovel of Fahenstock (?) says in a recent report that talks with Gateway indicate that they tried to get Athlons but couldn't get the motherboards. By the way this was also the reason quoted by Acer.

It's great to see that the demand for Athlon is increasing. Sadly, the mobo situation is becoming the bottleneck again. IMHO, lot of these guys underestimated the power and manufacturability of Athlon.

Found this interesting piece of info in JC's news update -

According to Allison Boswell Consulting, Intel increased their market share of total unit sales to 61.3% (this seems low for total, perhaps it is only talking about retail ales?). On the other hand, AMD has taken the lead in unit sales of processors shipping in $2000 and above systems. Which is, frankly, an astounding surprise, as AMD had never really even touched that segment before.
