Hi Mike,

The new AMD Athlon processors are very nice performance wise, but the high-end ones are quite pricey. Unless you need the top of the line CPU for a trading station, a Pentium III - 450Mhz will suit you just fine.

Although the Celeron CPU's have their advantages (mainly price), the performance does go down a great deal in comparison to a Pentium III...especially if you play any games or work with graphics.

As I mentioned above, the sweet spot in the market now seems to be the Pentium III-450. Good bang for your buck.

Never heard of AMS Technology for notebooks. Unlike PC's, I don't recommend a 'no-name' dealer when it comes to a laptop. Pay more and go with Dell, Toshiba, or IBM...you'll get a quality machine with top of the line support without having to worry.

Cheers,

Rich
