I'm not so sure. Etrade doesn't care about happy current customers. It cares about enticing folks to open new accounts. I think that the big jackpot lottery effect (i.e., the 20 or 25K in a day from 100 shares LNUX) helps to feed the frenzy rather than chopping it in half.

Either way, I'll stay in the game for now. But if I was competing for 50 shares of EGRT for example (which was rated Redhot by Redherring but is a big bust), I'm not sure how much longer I'd be around.

Also, it would be tough to decide when you do 50 vs. 100. Is it only reserved for the expected real blockbusters (maybe 4 or 5 this past year), or is it for the run-of-the-mill expected 2-bagger or 3-bagger?

Great questions....will need great minds to solve them. Don't count on Etrade for that.
