Short interest is only published at the end of the month.

Sell off was probably just that. I don't think it was short sellers. For one thing, I think only marginable stocks can be sold short. Anyway, there are always momentum players who have filters set up to display stocks that suddenly spike up in price and volume. They dive in and as soon as the buying starts to dry up they bail out with their quick profits. This is a serious business with a lot of money to be made and there are people out there with the best data feeds and 2-3 monitors or more set up for different data displays to take advantage of these spikes. I don't own the stock, just been watching.
