Eric,

I agree with you regarding 3Com. I used to like Eric B. until he consciously decided to avoid CSCO. If anything he stripped the upside acquisition value from the company. The palm unit has essentially saved the company this year.

There will be big money made in the core as well, but primarily (%-wise) in international sales, imo. It is the international business for long haul and wireless technology that will benefit the larger telecomm equipment providers the most. Finance deals, deployment ability and support will separate the larger players from the upstarts outside of the US.

Domestically, I agree with you that there will be billions made in the last mile. As investors, if we lose money in this sector, we really need to screw up.
