Apparently the book Justin recommends deals with the strange, but true, fact that the diet that the mainstream experts tell diabetics to follow actually raises their blood sugar. It may have something to do with the differences between insulin-dependent diabetics (type 1), who have impaired pancreas function, and non-insulin-dependent diabetics, who are insulin-resistant due to obesity. I know I should eat foods that have a low glycemic index, I've had books on the topic for years, but I haven't adhered to them. But it looks like it's time.
