Oct 1999: Banks Coy Towards TransPoint "Major financial institutions appear to be displaying a lukewarm attitude towards TransPoint, Microsoft's e-billing venture. Thought it's been several months since TransPoint launched its e-billing service, it has yet to get any financial institution, let alone a top one, to distribute its e-bills. ..." naming.knowledgestor.com I predict TransPoint abandons its previously stated plan to let the banks be aggregators of TransPoint bills. It will focus on providing a service to drive traffic to MSN's MoneyCentral. At the same time, why wouldn't MoneyCentral pursue a deal with CheckFree? How would you like to be in their shoes having to compete with Yahoo and be limited to what slow-to-market TransPoint can give you. MSN is a lot more important to Microsoft than TransPoint. This (free) site requires a plug-in to view the content which also makes it non-obvious how to post the full text without retyping it. I'm sure some network guru could figure out how to intercept the bytes.
