EarthWeb shares leap on Dell deal

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of EarthWeb rose more than 12 percent Friday after the company said that Dell Euro R&D Products, an Ireland-based operating unit of Dell Computer, subscribed to its ITKnowledge product.

EarthWeb (EWBX: news, msgs) shares were up as much as 4 5/8 at 41 1/2 in late trading. Shares of Dell (DELL: news, msgs) were up 7/8 at 45 13/16.

ITKnowledge provides users with instant access to comprehensive technical reference and resources.

"ITKnowledge will provide Dell with a key resource designed to effectively solve enterprise technical issues across multiple vendors and multiple platforms in a minimum amount of time in their European operations," said Bill Gollan, senior vice president of EarthWeb.
