There were plenty like AMTD in the last five minutes. . .look at LPHL, PCRV, HD, YHOO and QCOM . . . all rocketed in the final 5 minutes.

Could these have been picked by daytrading rooms as players for next weeks holidility? Some of it was short covering before the weekend.

Either way, next week should be fun and educational.

I'm thinking many of these OLBs may double (or more) during 1Q of Y2K. It was just about this time last year when they first began taking off. 2 year AMTD chart is a good example. We may be at the beginning of OLB mania, round two. There's been plenty of time for consolidation of last year's move.

A quick look at the volume on a 5 year Nasdaq chart pretty much tells the story: finance.yahoo.com^IXIC&d=5y

When you think about it, this might have something to do with NATS' launch strategy (and announcement thereof). They decided a few months ago to delay the deployment of their online division due to 'added features' (after-hours trading, etc). Perhaps they also realized that a better launch environment would occur after the OLB sector had established an uptrend. This could also explain why mgmt has said that an official announcement would not be made until 'the bugs have been worked out and we're sure our server has the capacity to handle some serious traffic.' This statement might be better read as, "We'll announce our new OLB when we're sure that the market atmosphere is ripe for our stock price to establish an entirely new trading range."

Anyway, just some weekend speculation for ya... To be fair, William's favorite indicator (NITE) showed the complete opposite EOD as AMTD. Also didn't see any other substantial moves in that OLB list that Banchee compiled a while back.
