I have not finished my research on the GBLX Venture capital arm, but thought I'd give you all some insight to why I'm so excited:

Corvis is one of the VC arm's holdings . . .

Cisco weighing buyout of Corvis 12/15/99

AND SOME OF MY STUFF.

Corvis Customers: Qwest, Williams Communications
Also: George Gilder Focus Company at Telecosm 99 forbes.com
(Section: 10:30 am Packet vs. Circuit: Why Circuit Switching Will Win)

Comment: Heavy Hitters, go figure the Gilder Connection (Corvis/GBLX)

Corvis Clips:

“Nortel's potential interest in Qtera makes sense because demand for the start-up's equipment, which is also being developed by Corvis Corp.”

and:

“Qwest Communications International Inc. (QWST), which operates a big fiber-optic network in the U.S., uses equipment made by Qtera and Corvis and has as an option to acquire small equity stakes in both start-ups.”

interactive.wsj.com

“Nortel Networks Corp. (Toronto:NT.TO - news)(NYSE:NT - news) said on Wednesday it had struck an all-stock deal worth up to $3.25 billion to acquire Florida's Qtera Corp.”

biz.yahoo.com

“Indeed in a research note, SG Cowen suggested the Nortel-Qtera pact could spur Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) to acquire closely held Corvis Corp., a Qtera rival. Cisco already owns 10% of Covis.”

Dear Michael O'Neill: OT: As an Irish Immigrant you might be interested in knowing that I am receiving on 12/23 a Soft Coated IRISH Wheaten Terrier. My puppy is a direct descendent of one of Mrs. Maureen Holmes dogs (she is one of the people credited with saving the breed). His call name is PADDY and his official name is Padraig (spelling?) Poncan. I may have the spelling off a little but it should be Irish for Patrick Yankee!! The papers will have it right, I am just going from memory. JDN
