Rambi,
thats interesting
I just got "The Love Poems of Rumi"
It was suppose to be a gift but I'm keeping it.
And in keeping with Rumi's celebration today (Sebul Arus- Night of Union)the day he died Dec 17, 1273; here is this from him:

Looking for Love

A strange passion is moving in my head.
My heart has become a bird
which searches in the sky.
Every part of me goes in different directions.
Is it really so
that the one I love is everywhere?

~Rumi

yep... I'm hooked, (no worms for me,though)
How about Hafiz(Sufi): from"The Gift"

It Felt Love

How
Did the rose
Ever open its heart

And give to this world
All its
Beauty?

It felt the encouragement of light
Against its
Being,

Otherwise,
We all remain

Too
Frightened.

he is also know as Shams-ud-din Muhammad and I posted another of his poems on the Poetry thread.

Enjoy the day
~.~

Hey Nancy if you read this I haven't forgotten to post back--
first I have to find a book from Arthur Sze...I know I have it somewhere.

Rambi - Happy Holidays-I found a love poem by Octavio Paz (1914) I am going
to have to memorize and recite it on a romantic evening with a slow fire ,
soft candles and a couple half-empty bottles of wine carelessly scattered, get cozy.. try this at home..said slowly (whispered) and paused between stanza's...look longingly..feign a kiss....bite an ear...
works great on my dog.

Two Bodies

Two bodies face to face
are at times two waves
and night is an ocean

Two bodies face to face
are at time two stones
and night a desert.

Two bodies face to face
are at times two roots
laced into night.

Two bodies face to face
are at times two knives
and night strikes sparks.

Two bodies face to face
are two stars falling
in an empty sky.
