I guess they're not proud (dumb). They'll sell their chips wherever. Does Sun still have TI as their main source for SPARCs? Fujitsu? Seems Sun could use the top volume/yield chip producer, might get better prices and reliability. Still, I'm sure there's more politics around all that than in Washington DC.

I found it interesting that the mailing I got from Intel today listed Sun, SCO, Novell, Oracle and LSI (among others) as "Contributors" to the "Developer's Interface Guide for IA-64 Servers" but did not list Microsoft as either a "Promoter" (the other category listed, which included Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens, HP, IBM, NEC, and Intel themselves) or "Contributor."

JMHO.
