Well thanks, that is very interesting. Wine is one of only a few internet retailing opportunities that holds a lot of promise (along with books, toys and a few others) where the consumer needs information and the internet can offer that. You can buy a lot of things on the net but for example with pets.com it is merely convenience and price you are buying. But books and toys are a better value proposition... maybe wine too.

Anyway I know a long time ago there were all those protests against Gallo. That was in Cesar Chavez' time. Gallo was exploiting the workers, no doubt. But the new Gallo is something completely different.

If I were a grape grower I would probabaly look into marketing my own wine, because in some ways it is a cottage industry... there are only a few really big labels and then everybody else. But then you've got the statewide distributors pushing you around too. If you find out who are the most ethical wineries let me know and I will buy from there.
