I'm sorry if I remembered Neocon's underlying political beliefs inaccurately. I was under the impression that he leaned towards libertarianism, from some of his posts. I did know that Neocon came from neoconservative, but the lines between libertarians and conservatives are fairly blurred in America.

I agree with you totally in that the libertarian spirit should logically preclude spanking children. However, some pure libertarians argue that there should be no interference at all in family life, because that would hamper personal freedoms. If you go along with this way of thinking, parents in a theoretical libertarian state would be able to spank without government intervention of any sort.
