To all: A little OT but not really There is a very interesting series of articles in the December 6 Publisher's Weekly (for the book publishing industry) about investment books. That sector is absolutely booming, of course, and not surprisingly they attribute it to the confluence of the baby boomers and the net. No what else is SI, and of course the G&K thread? Moore's book is mentioned. I'll quote some relevant passages here. McGraw Hills finance publisher Jeffrey Krames: "More than any time in history, investors are taking responsibility for their money." John Mahaney, exec editor of Times Books, "The new economy is about, if nothing else, the transforming power of information. Information is now the ultimate good." A spokesperson for Borders bookstore: "Interest in the category of personal finance and investment has neveer been higher. The Internet represents an unprecedented opportunity for personal wealth creation, and the rules of wealth creation have been, and will continue to be, changed by the new economy." The business and investing category at Amazon.com is one of their top three. The head of McGraw Hill: "The whole online world is ransforming investing." The article then goes into extensive reviews of all the finance and investment books out from the major publishers. There are book son financial security for lesbians and gays, electronic futures rading, day trading, options trading online, and a new book that sounds interesting coming out in Feburary, "The Millionaire Mind", which explores the ideas, beliefs and behaviors that enable millionaires to build and maintain their fortunes. One book explains how to become a millionaire on a salary of 40K a year. The article pionts out there are 78 million baby boomers "now in positions of authority and driving the economy and they have gotten publishers' attention in a big way." Well, Frank, I guess you know what I'm thinking. I just think I have to clone myself to get all my projects done. Happy Saturday Jill
