Charles, What surprises me is that ADI is doing better than LSI.

ADI = DSPs = like TI (TXN)? Just a guess. Hard to believe a little old analog chip company's stock is soaring. These types of stocks languished for years.

Watch out for the end of the cycle though. Having said that, end of current cycle is looking further and further away, maybe out at infinity minus one in today's stock market terms.

Charles. Market does not realize that LSI is so close to supply chain that LSI can avoid the inventory problems it ran into during the last down cycle, when PC based products had enough of a critical mass in the overall market, and LSI's technology for new products was too far ahead of the times. Now we have consumer markets for things like digital cameras and DVDs, wireless stuff, and all the internet related stuff for broadband etc, in addition to PCs. During recent CC WC talked about how short term product cycles for customers are, and how quick the turnaround has to be. I would be amazed if any of these customers double ordered anything, since LSI is the one building its own chips, with close real time customer relationships in the supply chain. Sure hope Gresham has a logistics system that can handle the timely ramp up effectively.

Charles, I think what has happened here is that ADI has been painted by the broad "analog paint brush." All the semiconductor companies known as analog houses have risen simultaneously. Perhaps LSI isn't as well understood outside of the semiconductor industry. Folks on Wall Street remember when LSI was synonymous with CMOS ASICs. Those days are behind them. Now, they're exploiting the consumer and wireless spaces, but they're not yet recognized as such. Perhaps a name change to "LSI Wireless Circuits" or "LSI Consumer Devices" would help drive the stock price. <g>

Good trading, Glen

p.s.: Does anyone really understand why LSI dipped 10 points and then corrected during the past week?
