Mary - Re: "Please, tell me that you are just kidding."

No - I'm not kidding.

Look at the facts.

Intel claims they can't meet existing demand and the 700/733 Coppermine is ramping slower - AND LATER - than most people expected.

Then AMD tries to one-UP Intel with their own phantom 750 MHz AthWIPER - and the entire world REPORTS THAT INTEL is falling BEHIND AMD, that Intel can't deliver what they have announced - but NO ANALYSTS or MEDIA types report that AMD AIN'T DELIVERING DIDDLY SQUAT 750 MHZ AthWIPEYS !!!

So, Intel is announcing newer, faster processors AHEAD of their PRODUCTION RAMP - just like AMD.

Intel DOES have 800 MHz parts - don't misunderstand me - but the RAMP is only beginning.

However, in a game of PERCEPTIONS, Intel has to counter the PERCEPTION that they are losing their technological and manufacturing edges.

If they have to resort to AMD's playbook, so be it.

In case you hadn't noticed - AMD's stock has nearly DOUBLED in the past month.
