Sorry Michael,

I completely disagree with you. The whole reason I think that we get a higher quality of postings on SI is because SI charges and that there has always been a certain amount of exclusivity (ie the postcards). I'm not sure any amount of SIADMIN BOB types would be enough to stop the type of blatent spam that happens on yahoo -- each time one alias gets killed, another gives birth.

I also question the idea that advertising is the model that will win out on the net. I think people are and will continue to be willing to pay for content that is worth something -- and if free, that quality can only be diluted on SI.

Michael SI has been offered "Free" in the past for a trial period, I think it was 30 days or something.

I actually tested it that way myself. I didn't join at the time though.

IMO many people play the market for get rich quick and then bail. SI gets those out there that decide to stay in the market so it's actually a sort of selection process.

I like the fact that SI costs money. I would not like to that changed.
