Paul,

Re:"- You never answered my question about AMD's 900 MHz AthWiper Demos - in Copper from Dresden AND aluminum from Austin !

Why do both processes result in the same speed grade ?

Doesn't that indicate that AMD's Copper Process is buying them nothing - except headaches and massive additional expense?"

Sorry for not responding.

It is not clear to me at all that both processess do result in same speed grade. AMD has just not chosen to show its hand on the Cu process fully yet.

Also the dresden cu process also has faster 0.18 micron front end than the Austin stuff.

Frankly, speed does not appear to be a roadblock with Athlon Architecture.

The big issue with Dresden and cu is wether they can really yield it reasonably in good die per wafer and with manufacturing excellence - ie NO contamination issues.

And as you have repeatedly pointed out AMD will need to have large on - chip cache as well to be competitive within 6 months - something AMD has NOT yet shown us it can do - at least yet.

regards,

Kash J.
