That is a heart-warming story about the hobo and the nuns, Blue. Unfortunately, in San Francisco we have had a couple of cases where kind and loving people were murdered by homeless people they were trying to help. It is really confusing to know how much of your own personal security to risk in helping others. Then there was the case of the woman in New York City who was almost killed by a homeless man who hit her in the head with a brick. It really polarized Mayor Guiliani's opinions about the homeless.

Life in San Francisco is hard. If you happen to lose your job here you may very quickly become homeless, because housing is so expensive that most people live paycheck to paycheck. Salaries here have not risen the way housing costs have. I saw a young middle class woman with a sign asking for contributions because she had lost her home and consequently, her apartment. Once you hit the skids here it is a quick ride down unless you have family or close friends who can help you.

The teenaged girls are nearly all shacked up somewhere. The MTTP of a teenaged girl in Waikiki is about five minutes.
The little old ladies take a few minutes longer. There are fewer gerontaphiles than paedophiles.
