Female circumcision is a horrible practice, Nuni, in my opinion. I think one of the things about globalization is that there is a chance for good and healthy child rearing practices to become more universal, and for bad ones to disappear. Certainly there is an international campaign against female circumcision that is growing.

No culture gets everything right. The fact that in some societies female children are still circumcized does not mean that spanking is good.

Africa is composed of so many cultures I think that statement is probably unsupportable- especially when you consider children are routinely beaten and enslaved in Africa.
