fwiw,
We will be deploying Blackberry's department wide. I currently have a pagenet wireless, packaged in a RIMM device. Forward all emails from my manager to the wireless, and for me this has certainly been a great tool. When I am away from my desk or outside the office, the ability to put out fires before they start to spread, this has been terrific!! I've even gotten adept at typing away with my thumbs on the munchkin keyboard. It is somewhat bulky, however, and the Palm Pilots have a much cleaner profile. I heard, though, that the VII's per character charge is prohibitive.

In the december 6, 1999 version of Business Week(Pg. 92) they profile AOL and some of the new partnerships that they're involved with. In it they mention a partnership with Motorola that allows AOL users to use the instant messenger service to track friends and co-workers.

All this using Motorola's new smart wire-less devices including the Timeport P1088 smart phone and the Timeport P930 smart two way pager. The service will be available in 'early 2000.'

This in my opinion eliminates any chance of RIMM getting involved with AOL in the near future.

Cheers
Rhys
