To get to the 30-40%, there will need to be price cuts, or people will have to be convinced that it's a "gotta have" like Pokemon

You are *exactly* right.

This is why it is so vital to sink broadband into the public mindset as soon as possible. Broadband internet can easily be a "gotta have", at least as much as cable TV is anyway. Most people pay for cable even though a similar (but inferior) product is available for free through the air.

Anyone who has a phone line for internet access- its a no brainer switch to cable at zero cost.
Two computer homes- its a gotta have.
People who shop online- its a gotta have (though they don't all see it yet)
Give me Video on Demand and the world will come knocking on our door! How much will people pay to not have to drive to the video store (twice)? Gotta have!
How many more gotta haves? Plenty.

I'll be sadly disappointed if there are any price cuts in order to increase broadband penetration.
