I think it has at best, a chance of reaching about $85 and will be down hill from there, into another cyclical bear in 2001 for the semis

Zeev, I hope you are as prescient in this post as you were in this

Message 5991091

where you said that CYMI won't take off until a new wave of fabs is announced (it did), or here

Message 6129342

where you said you doubted it would break 14.5.

I know, the turnips change with the wind.

It seems to me Akins as been fairly accurate (even conservative) with his market projections. Extrapolating some numbers, CYMI is going to grow earnings at over 50% a year for at least the next few years. Further, everyone recognizes that chip companies are out of capacity, and the capacity additions are just beginning. What makes you think that 2001 will bring the beginning of a cyclical bear? With 300mm pilot lines just getting started, 300mm buildouts will only be getting started toward the end of next year.

Please explain the basis for your statements.

Jay

Zeev,

Up til this year the Internet has been primarily an "english speaking world" thing.

Now it's expanding to the other 2/3 of the world's people.

The chips required to do this (Communications Networks, Servers, PCs, etc.) are increasing exponentially even as the efficiency of the networks improves almost exponentially.

On 20/20 Friday, Barbara Walters interviewed Stevie Wonder who's going to have an experimental chip implanted in one eye which will give him partial vision - sufficient to recognize shapes and possibly even read!!!

I don't see the growth rate in chips required to slow any time soon.

What factors cause you to believe that the current upcycle might end within the next year or 2?

Thanks,
Ian.
