Trebor: Good pick. The purpose of the graph was to show the relative performance of the major drugs to the major indices over time. Many have outperformed the Naz or have had comparable returns. While everyone else is chasing the tech., now is a good time for the long term investor to get some exposure to the group.

Trebor,

And I modified your chart to add my 'biotech' winner. Even with a 2:1 split mishandled by SI's charting facility, QLTI is still heads and shoulders above the others.

If the chart facility had worked correctly, it would be twice the percentage gain shown.

QLT just got European approval for a treatment of Age Related Macular Degeneration which is the leading cause of blindness in adults over 50 years old. There is no other effective treatment although some barbaric ophthalmologists use a laser to burn a hole through the retina to attempt to get rid of the abnormal blood vessels. This has never helped but does result in less vision from the laser burn hole immediately.

I also added MRVT which just filled its Phase III trial for a similar treatment. It's about 1 1/2 years behind QLT. I added a position in MRVT Friday, hoping to get 1/2 the ride that QLT gave me. ... hopefully sometime within the next 1 to 2 years.

And I'm still holding all my QLT including a trading position that I added just prior to the FDA subcommittee approval. Full FDA approval is expected by or before mid February as they've given QLT's NDA Priority status.

FWIW,
Ian.
