The first several hundred posts are like an overture or a prelude. The first act opens at #833, with the Q leitmotif beginning. (I imagine E flat, like the Rhine in Rheingold, punctuated by Alberich's gold-lust theme. I also hear the Valhalla theme.)

The real music-lovers on the thread could generate a true score, but the model would have to be Wagnerian to accommodate the magnitude of the forces involved, the outsize personalities, the heartbreaking lyrical beauty of the Gorilla theme music as well as the puckish playfulness of the hamsterdance....

Of course, there could also be some jazzy touches as well, perhaps some swing to represent a certain light-footed zoot-suited character....

The result--absent a Gotterdammerung early in the new year, of course--should yield not merely an education (graduate or otherwise), but a rich harmony of pongoid voices, with an occasional royal chorus. Lots of big hairy primates, with some crowned heads among them? Yes, definitely Wagner. :0)

PS IMHO, the question of QCOM vs. GMST doesn't really require yet another discussion, given that a) almost everybody here is in both now and b) there has been a lot of discussion on both. For Q, the old logic still holds (I seem to recall Buckley summarizing it fairly recently; a search should bring up the post). For GMST, newbies should skim the thread postings around the time of the merger, plus anything NY Stew and Buckley have written on the subject (since they led the charge in convincing most here).

Hey, Mike, you forgot to mention that I'm also almost thru the RFM, have the Tornado and Chasm on my bedside table and am boring all my friends to tears with my "explanation" of the GG; I figure if I can explain it I will understand it better. Is there a doctor in the house? What's an addiction? <g> Thanks again for this great thread, uf, Mike, Lindy, et al...I'm sending you each 100 cybershares of Q for your holiday gifts.
