We did some dinner at Yen Yens which is the best Chinese food on the Space Coast and is close up there in Cocoa Beach.....then off to the beach with our 4 kids and another family with 3 more. A perfect night in the 60's and just a few high clouds. The kids run around having a great time while the adults chat and wait which seems like forever. Then suddenly the sky is a glow like if you ever saw a big nighttime fire in the distance ...within seconds there it is the shuttle's flames a bright orange extending out across the horizon. It heads up and east slowly turning more yellow. Within 30 seconds it exhaust becomes more dim but it's tail remains bright like the brightest star you have ever seen. Another minute passes and now you are looking due east rather than up and faintly you can see the tanks fall away. Now it is but a fading star when finally the engine noise begins to shutter the air mixing with the breaking waves and the kids chatter. A wonderful Florida evening.

Wow,

First the FLAWLESS launch of Discovery - couldn't do it without the silent prayers, Techriders. One thing the public doesn't have insight into are the numerous voice loops that the Shuttle team utilizes in the front Flight Control Room and back console areas of the control center. TV usually only has the public affairs office and air-to-ground loops with the usual "...and we have liftoff...Roger, roll, Discovery...we see throttle-up...Press-to-MECO (Main-Engine-Cutoff)...". Compared to the last launch with all its challenges, aside from the standard calls, there was tranquility - booster loop, flight dynamics loop, flight director loop, etc...

This is an experimental vehicle, always will be, and is in America's best hands.

After returning to the TCC (Techride Control Center), I find that I'm getting 909'd. What to do...what to do..., especially THCG. I decided to hang on to it this time - first bought it just under 7 and 909'd it last time around (BLUE, thanks for making us aware of the BLUE-light special). Picked more up just over 10, and getting a bit greedy here - THCG and xrrrrx may have a ways to go in the short term. BLUE, you wouldn't have THCG on that Y2K-Shopping-List, would you? Only 9 more "Top10-pickin-days" left to write your favorites in stone (wonder if tevesay armonhay gets that concept yet - will it be a day in December that he sticks with for our assessment of his Y2K performance?).

BTW, have been with volatile China-net xhrctx since 3 7/8 all the way up to 20+, but feel this one has a way to go with news into Jan/Feb. IMHO, this one may be more than hype, but use caution/DD as always.

Still working on the Y2K list.

909s, Hansi
