Eric, I can't find any post arguing against spending money on such a child, or advocating using the money spent on such a child on some "deadbeat that deals crack cocaine and lives in public housing" (to quote your post).

Could you please point to the specific post containing such an argument? I must have overlooked it and would like to see who wrote it. Thanks.

Eric,
I don't see that X was criticizing any assistance that might have been received or arguing that money should NOT have been spent on nihil's niece (or any child) at all. X is a fiery defender of children's rights and our responsibility toward them. I thought she was pointing out that there WAS a relationship between society and nihil's niece even if it was only financial, and so she was in some respects, Society's Child-- as we all are.

I said nothing about the merits of spending money on this particular child or any other- please take that discussion up with Ish, and at the very least re-read my post an see that THAT was not MY issue.
