Commerce One Global Customer Base to Benefit From New Pact With Intraware
Intraware SubscribNet Service to Provide Internet-Based Software Delivery and Update Management
ORINDA, Calif., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Intraware, Inc., (Nasdaq: ITRA - news) the leading IT e-Marketplace for Web-based software and services, officially announced today that Commerce One, Inc., (Nasdaq: CMRC - news), a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, has selected the Intraware SubscribNet service to provide Commerce One customers with Internet-based software update and management services. As a result of today's announcement, each Commerce One customer will have access to a co-branded version of the SubscribNet service, which delivers proactive notification of software updates and changes, and provides password-protected sites for customers to collaborate about and download all updates. This new service provides Commerce One customers, for the first time, with a personalized Internet account that allows authorized in-house IT professionals to access all versions of their Commerce One software entitlements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
``Intraware has clearly established itself as the leader of Internet-based business-to-business software distribution services which is why we've elected to co-brand their SubscribNet service for our worldwide customer base,' said Chuck Donchess, vice president of marketing and business development at Commerce One, Inc. ``By providing this important new service, we'll be enabling deeper relationships with our customers. The other key advantage of co-branding SubscribNet is that we can deliver this critically important new service to our rapidly expanding customer base virtually overnight. And as we scale to accommodate a global customer base, we'll never pay more than a fraction of the price tag of a comparably built in-house solution.'
SubscribNet is an Internet-based software update and management service that allows business-to-business software publishers to leverage the Internet to increase customer satisfaction through improved software management, reduce the number of support calls, and cut costs by eliminating the distribution of physical media. Unlike traditional reactive methods of technical support fulfillment such as physical shipments of software and passive Web site postings of software updates, SubscribNet is a personalized and proactive service that provides automatic update notifications and delivers software electronically, on demand. Whether there is a major update, a bug fix, or just a patch, SubscribNet notifies customers whenever there is software change and provides electronic software download access within 24 hours of the release. SubscribNet delivers customers complete control over the update process, as well as protection against lost or corrupted files. Additionally, SubscribNet tracks all software notifications and download activity to enable customers to more effectively manage the software update process.
``Intraware SubscribNet represents an essential service to any business-to-business software publishers' customer relationship strategy,' said Frost Priouleau, vice president of e-services at Intraware, Inc. ``Forward-thinking companies like Commerce One clearly recognize the benefits of quickly deploying a strategic new Internet-based service such as SubscribNet as a means of maximizing customer satisfaction. By partnering with Intraware, business-to-business software publishers like Commerce One can rely on the expertise we've developed in this space, rather than take their eye off the ball to build the solution in house. Moreover, our solution is deployable in six to eight weeks, which is overnight in comparison to building something on your own and launching it in three or four quarters.'
Customer demand for new online business services is growing dramatically, especially among those deploying business-to-business e-commerce solutions. This is putting additional time-to-market pressure on software publishers attempting to deliver world-class web-based customer services solutions. According to Gartner Group, it can take up to a year to develop and deploy an in-house customer service Web site, putting companies at a significant competitive disadvantage. Recognizing this, companies such as Commerce One, PeopleSoft, and The Sun/Netscape Alliance are partnering with Intraware to take advantage of its industry-proven SubscribNet service which in some cases has been rolled out in as little as forty five days.
More than 30,000 professionals, including individuals at over half of the Fortune 1000, rely on the SubscribNet service to stay informed and have instant access to software updates as well as critical information about their software, including download history, release notes and account details. Over 80% of IT professionals using Intraware's services have indicated that they prefer the fully-featured SubscribNet service over receiving updates on CD's from software vendors.
