I can also use any help, from people, who can point out how to calm down and survive. Here, I mean, of course ~ here.

I've just been thinking that this is a cyclical thing... seems like some of us have been going through a lot lately, eh? I just got to thinking about how so many of us have had major changes in our lives in the past few weeks or months... the kind of changes that make it seem like the earth is moving or something.... I know that's been the case with my life...

Sometimes life just seems to take on a chaotic quality. Shit happens... and when it does, it's not really too unusual to pull in your horns and hide in the bushes for awhile. At least, that's how I tend to react. Probably a fairly normal and instinctive reaction... I'm sure that any of my goats would agree that that's the sensible thing to do... They'd probably say that it's always an excellent idea to find a good thick bush to scrunch down in while the angry Christmas Tree Farmer storms by...but after he's gone, it's usually safe to emerge to begin ripping at choice branches again... or maybe even capering around kicking up your heels and butting heads... Yep... that's exactly what they would say...;-}>

And you're right... "Perspective and love and ingenuity and sun-dried tomatoes" are precisely the right answers on this test... :-}

later,
PodCroc

About surviving here.

My thoughts, please.

That is a nonsensical reference (that no one could have any way of getting) to a very polite poster on a stock thread I used to read. At the end of every single post he made, he wrote "Your thoughts, please," and I always laughed when I came to it, and started incorporating it into my 3D life. As in, to N, "That sure was a good sauce. Your thoughts, please. "I'd like to get home before the snow starts. Your thoughts, please." "I love you. Your thoughts, please."

Anyway, I think Croc is right. Some people are going through distressing and preoccupying things. I am myself. And on top of that, there are the complications of the holidays. And SAD, maybe. As in, Seasonal Affective Disorder.

I think (everyone is going to hate me for this) the new SI has been quite considerate in their phasing in of the new beta version. They've given a lot of notice, they've communicated the plans and explained their reasons for them in detail and civilly, and have invited, and clearly paid attention to, feedback from users. They've even provided as an option the old color scheme, which is much less hideous than the mysteriously-chosen ugly Dirty Teal and Mustard Crud one. And... sorry again... beta has tenatatime, which is really important to those of us with slow isp's, and convenient folders for saving PM's, which you can label. And they have a very good Real Time quote feature you can keep up, minimized, if you want. It works much better than NDB's. Since I got used to beta, I have preferred it. Though I was one of those who signed the Save Classic petition. Sorry! And you can use the Classic-like beta and have your PM's and public posts mixed up if you prefer that, which I did at first, but don't know whether I do now or not.

If I understood correctly, there is also going to be a convenient way to save public posts you'd like to save.

Don't anybody tell me I could save anything I wanted to now, on my computer, I know that. But I don't do that. For some reason. And I have been saving favorite PM's since I started using beta.

There are still glitches with beta. But they're diminishing in number. Getting fixed.

I think everybody should just stay here and wait for this period of enervation to pass.

Gaugie, you're about to have surgery, so is jp, look what Ish is going through, my life pretty much sh!its right now, Cobe isn't any too cheery, it seems, penni is busy as anything, or at least I hope she is, because she's never writing to me any more, God knows, Lather is about to become a father again, there's the holiday phenomenon for most everybody, where the hell is X? Well, I'm not caught up, maybe she's here.

Anyway, I am proposing my psychobabble theory that the new SI format is a repository for other anxieties. Because it, itself, isn't a terrible thing. It's like coming in and finding the walls to the clubhouse repainted and a new sofa that isn't broken in yet, so it's uncomfortable. Same membership, strange new appurtenances that will soon be broken in and unnoticeable.

That's what I think. Sorry!

Your thoughts, please.
