Golf Illustrated On-Line Debuts as RMI.NET's First Customer to Use 'Assemble!'
The Software and Services Suite Enabling Magazines To Cost-Effectively
Create a Commerce Community

DENVER, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- RMI.NET, Inc. (Nasdaq: RMII - news), a national e-business and
convergent communications company, announced today the launch of the Internet industry's first
software product and services suite, ''Assemble!(TM),'' which enables magazine publications to
cost-effectively leverage their content, subscriber base and advertiser relationships to create
community-oriented e-Business Portals and generate new Internet commerce revenue streams.

RMI.NET is announcing Golf Illustrated as the first customer of Assemble! Golf Illustrated, which has
been in publication since 1914 and is one of the most highly respected golf journals in the world, today
debuts its Golf Illustrated On Line commerce community site.

Assemble! is the Internet industry's first turnkey solution to combine all of the components of a
conventional web portal -- such as search, stock tracking, directories and news -- with proprietary
publisher content, and the advertising, commerce and marketing services required to build a vibrant,
revenue-producing web destination. The result is a full service portal, with community-specific content
and services, that subscribers can personalize as their web start page. Site users now can access all of
the specialized or general information they need in one stop, without having to visit numerous sites on
the Internet.

''We believe that web users will increasingly convene on the Internet to where their particular interests
are served, and that lifestyle and trade magazines are the natural first sponsors for these web venues,''
said Douglas H. Hanson, chairman and chief executive officer for RMI.NET. ''Golf Illustrated is a perfect
first customer for our product, and it will help us demonstrate the emerging importance of commerce
communities and the value-added potential of Assemble!

''RMI.NET is augmenting the publication's assets with the technological know-how and services
required to profitably bring customer and advertising relationships to the Internet,'' Hanson said. ''And,
once we have helped the publication create an on-line community, RMI.NET can help them serve it
through our company's web site-hosting services and e-commerce software applications.''

Hanson noted that while RMI.NET is targeting its initial efforts for its Assemble! software products and
services suite to the publishing industry, the company intends to expand its offering to other industries
that could benefit from the concept of a commerce community with their customers and advertisers.

Golf Illustrated On-Line Debuts as First Assemble! Customer

With the debut today of Golf Illustrated On-Line (www.golfillustrated.com), Golf Illustrated -- the nation's
longest-running golf magazine -- becomes the first Assemble! customer for RMI.NET. To introduce the
new portal, Golf Illustrated and AltaVista (www.altavista.com), a joint subsidiary of Compaq Computer
Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) and CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI - news), are sponsoring a 60-Day
Grand Opening Webstakes, during which thousands of prizes will be awarded, from brand-name golf
equipment to golf vacations.

''Site visitors are now able to access a wealth of information geared specifically toward the golfing
community, as well as general information such as breaking news, weather reports or stock market
updates. Because our readers can now personalize Golf Illustrated On-Line to meet their information
needs, we believe every golfer should use our golf portal as their Internet start-page and return to it
throughout the day,'' said Gerald Pope, publisher of Golf Illustrated.

''After much research, we determined that RMI.NET was the only vendor uniquely qualified to provide us
with a total e-Business solution,'' Pope added.

The Assemble! Suite

At the heart of Assemble! is E3 Content, a proprietary site management system that acquires,
transforms, presents and personalizes content for site visitors. Other Assemble! components include
general interest content, community services (web search, chat, discussion forums), advertising
services (to create ads and measure results), e-commerce services and professional services (site
customization, web hosting and marketing services). Interested parties can get further information about
Assemble! at www.rmi.net/assemble.
