As a result of higher clock speed and these advanced features, the Pentium III processor 800 MHz achieves a SPECint95* benchmark rating of 38.4 and a SPECfp95* result of 28.9.

Intel has now moved well ahead of any competition. With the above benchmarks plus the ZD WinBench CPUMark99, ZD WinBench CPUMark99, ZD 3D WinBench2000 Processor Test, the newly released BAPco SYSmark2000 benchmarks and the all to predictable "Intel cheated" whines.

Now let's sit back and see how AMD responds.

The 800MHz Pentium III chip will be available in limited quantities at launch, while the 750MHz should be available in quantity, McCrea said"...

Well then, AMD might as well introduce 850MHz and 900 Mhz Athlons in "limited quantities" of course.
