NW--- LOL!!! Yes MANY large companies OVERbudgeted for Y2K. If you go back to last month you will see where I posted my thoughts on that. It should free up some IS/IT spending and/or go into the bottom line of these companies. Believe me,, it was huge and expensive in $$ and man hours. It just was not as huge as most thought. Fewer items/programs needed remediation. Remember all the hype about embedded chips in everything from your microwave & VCR to the elevators. Well, few chips had any effect on anything. Testing proved most these were a NON-issue. Most controllers are fed by an ap that is run by a PC. If the PC is good there is no problem. I have been forcasting excess budgets were planned for months. Just because it was not spent does not mean it things are bad. If you budget $4K for a new 'puter as would have been required 2 years ago and find CPQ can over fill the requirements for 2250 are you going to believe it will not do the job? Is that excess not going into periferals or your pocket? Same sceniero... I HOPE. Ask me beginning at 1AM on Sat 01/01/2000....
