My daughter never stopped believing in Santa Claus, or so I thought. I was starting to get VERY concerned when she was about fourteen. Then she finally admitted to her father that actually she had finally realized that he didn't exist, a little reluctantly, though, because she is sort of romantic and idealistic. But then she didn't want me to know that she didn't believe in him, because she was afraid I would be very sad that this part of her childhood was over, and the more calculating and rational part of her realized that she got a LOT more presents when Santa left them during the middle of the night in addition to the others bought by mere mortals.
