Er, um... The following message and the links therein give some details about what, actually, the problem with SI has been of late. Message 12248527

That one was delivered in a somewhat hostile forum, that didn't really want to know, but at least the punishment squad wasn't around. I noticed today that "SI classic" was pretty responsive, while "new SI" was often unusable, it apparently runs off the same db server, so I guess the new SI has its cost. New SI is less painful in other ways, but never mind that either.
