US MARGIN DEBT POSTS RECORD JUMP IN NOV: TRIMTABS

NEW YORK (MktNews) - Margin debt in the U.S. stock market spiked $24 billion in November or 13.2% for the month, breaking the prior record of $16.4 billion in April, according to Liquidity TrimTabs.

The year-to-date margin debt gain is 46.3%, well below the year-to-date market cap gain of 18.5%. TrimTabs said the last time margin debt grew 250+% faster than the market was 1993. The percentage of margin debt to market cap stands at 1.26%, the highest since the big selloff of August 1998.
