Samsung to Construct IC Plant in Kyunggi Province
December 20, 1999 (SEOUL) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will set up a chip
production facility in Kyunggi Province.

The facility will have eight production lines, including those for 128Mb DRAMs, 256Mb
DRAMs and rambus DRAMs.

Samsung said it plans to invest a total US$1.8 billion for one of the chip production lines,
which will make 32,000 8-in. wafers a month. And US$2.5 billion will be invested in
another production line, which will process 12-in. wafers at the end of 2001 or early 2002.

Already, Samsung has spent US$2.2 billion on its chip production facilities this year and it
plans to inject another US$2.2 billion in 2000.
