Jeff, most tech stocks hit a snag about May. History shows us that "techs" roar from about Nov 1 until April 30th; May is usually disastrous, and June likewise----a run-up occurs in July for the July "earnings" but then, sometimes the pros "sell-off" the market right before earnings like they did last summer-------and then comes the MOST volatile month August, followed by the most treacherous: Sept; with a "low" usually formed in October------all the major crashes happened in October------mutual funds sell in October.

So the history of techs suggests that you sell on April 30th and buy again on Nov 1---------and you will avoid most of the downside.

That said, some stocks such as Q might actually move up through the summer------last summer for Q was very strong do to the Erickson settlement and agreement to adopt CDMA---the question becomes, how will this next summer act?----it may be worth buying a short term put during this time if you have an appreciable gain in your Leap if you would like to continue riding it out through the summer. Several techs do ok during the summer------PMCS, AMCC, JDSU, Q all seemed to do ok last year---but the rest "took it on the chin"---that's why I say to check the charts and look to see how they reacted during the summer before taking a "long-term" option position. With Q, it might be ok----but do your own Due Diligence and study those charts ----was last summer the anomaly or the norm??? Can't really say until this summer.
