That's possible. For all their faults, the analysts and commentators love 'em (and sometimes seem to hate SUNW). Eventually I think MSFT will make a great short, but that could be a long time from now, and will probably require that they miss estimates a couple of times first.

JMHO.

Qwik - a trillion dollar market cap for Microsoft?

now that is what I call irrational exuberance.

Having said all that, I believe that M$FT stock may be on the verge of a gigantic runup and that it will easily double in the next 12 months.

Fascinating.

Here's what I don't get; MSFT has been 'found' and is about to be 'fined'. The way that's most likely going to be levied is through a remedy that has Bill Gates lifting his skirt up over his head (documenting Win32). All they are to date (90%) is based on leveraging (now illegally?) their monopoly OS. Take that away, both through documentation and through a more general (and radical) commoditization of computer operating systems (in an increasingly server-centric, WORA hungry, Java minded ubiquitous computing world) and you have... what? The 'Microsoft' brand?

Is your bet on MSN? Why wouldn't AT&T be the better 'pick'?
What does M$ own besides intellectual property which is rapidly decreasing in value?

I understand why you were long MSFT for many years. I just don't see what you see regarding MSFT having the potential to double in 12 months time, except a merger with AT&T which really isn't likely to get past, blah blah blah, and even if it did, T would seem like the better pick (trying to work this around to make sense...<g>)

You torture me with this, Q. :)
