Yes, Telecomguy. Past is no guarantee of the future. That is why Nortel and Lucent should be very afraid. They were and are dominant in the telecom market, but the future is very uncertain. They very well may not be dominant in the future. So your logic cuts both ways. Why don't you believe that Cisco will succeed --- as well as Lucent and Nortel? Believing that Cisco is at the cliff's edge of obscurity is a little extreme. None of these companies will do poorly in the next 5 years.
