Re: Network centric model A internet network centric model is not practically possible until there is reliable broadband backbone. An intranet centric model has been in use for many years and is not new to corporate users. There is some broadband capacity now but it is not yet reliable and it is certainly not widely available. The creation of the broadband infrastructure is likely to take many years as every other telephony infra structure change has. Even if such a system became available in the future, it would not be suitable for the vast majority of businesses and consumers. It creates another kind of public utility without the benefits of public oversight. Issues of security, privacy and continuous access to data programs and communications, as well as reliance on a utility for critical services (which could be shut off), etc. dominate the use of any such system. It is equivalent to handing over the family jewels to a stranger who says trust me. :)
