MSFT blackmails its customers, unlike T, and also unlike IBM.

You have it backwards. T won't even talk to M$ unless they supply source code. AT&T incidentally repackages that information and resells it to Sun so it can be integrated into the back end.

IBM is another story altogether. They're a vertical company that *shouldn't be (IMO).

Information wants to be free. It's a central tenent of the global network. M$'s business model doesn't scale into the new millennium. There's only so much you can do with lawyers.
